Electric Breast Pumps

ameda-purely-yoursElectric breast pumps are wonderful for the mother who needs to go back to work. There are many advantages. One of the advantages that mothers love is the mimicking of the pump to their baby’s suckling, bringing on the letdown or expression phase of breastfeeding. Electric pumps are fast, only 15 minutes per breast, if using a double electric pump, you can be done in 15 minutes flat.

Manual Breast Pumps

lanisoh-manual-pumpManual pumps are good for those mothers who need to express milk, but not because they are away from home. You can find manual pumps in a lot of local drugstores too. The mother who sometimes feels full and needs to feel comfortable can benefit from a manual pump. The other pro to a manual pump is the price. Manual pumps are very affordable, so if breastfeeding is going well and you need a pump that saves you money, a manual pump is the way to go.

lansinoh-logoLansinoh makes a few different kinds of pumps. Some are different than others, but overall Lansinoh is a very trusted brand for breastfeeding mothers. Their website, too, is very helpful when you have questions.

Lansinoh Double Electric Pump
The Lansinoh Double Electric Pump appealing to those moms who need comfort fit flanges, BPA free, battery operated, and good suction on their pump.

Comfort fit flanges are a good feature because your anatomy may change if you decide to continue to breastfeed your little one for a long time. Comfort fitting flanges make breast pumping comfortable. The suction is good on this pump as well. A good suction is important when maintaining a good supply. Again, the closest a pump can get to your baby’s actions, the better.

Lansinoh manual pump
The Lansinoh Manual pump is a good pump because it comes with everything you need, for a low cost. It is very easily portable for you to carry almost anywhere. To the movies, out to eat, the park, the gym, wherever you may need to pump, you will have it.

It also comes with a breast milk bottle holder stand. This is nifty when you are in a hurry and need to put your milk in a safe location. It always happens to be when mom starts to pump the door bell with ring or the house phone.

Lansinoh Electric Pump
Lansinoh came out with a pump product called the Lansinoh Affinity Double Electric Breast Pump. The Affinity is very advanced and affordable.

Lansinoh offers another pump called the Lansinoh® Affinity Pro™ Double Electric Breast Pump. It is “pro” because it features three customizable pumping styles to maximize your milk production and comfort. The no back up in the tubing for milk keeps your milk clean for your little one to drink later on.

Ameda Purely Yours Breast pump

The Ameda Purely Yours Breast pump is a cool pump in many aspects. The dual hygienkit is a feature similar to the Lansinoh’s double electric pro pump where the milk will not back up into the tubing, guaranteeing freshly pumped milk every time. Being apart from your baby should not include possible bacteria or viruses contaminating your milk.

This pump come equipped with a neat cooler that holds six bottles for ten hours! This is rare to find because most coolers will only keep milk fresh for 3-4 hours, on a good day. Milk, just like cow’s milk, needs to stay cold or it will spoil quickly. Always smell the milk before feeding it to your little one.

A pump you can control should be a necessity for every pump on the market. The manufacturer is there to help you feel your baby, but should not guess how it should feel all the time. Pumping should not hurt, and in the beginning it may to the new mother. That is why a good flange fit and controllable suction is a necessity.

Ameda Purely Yours Ultra Double Electric Breast Pump
The Ameda Purely Yours Ultra Double Electric Breast Pump has a lot of the same features as the Ameda Purely Yours Breastpump. The ultra is the updated version that offers three different flanges to help make breast pumping as comfortable as possible.

medela-logoMedela is the brand that I, as a labor and delivery nurse, is most familiar with. The reason I am most familiar with this brand is because the hospital I work for uses Medela products, as do most in my area. Most hospitals that provide Meleda products also provide re-orderable parts. This is nice to know if you need new tubing or whatnot for your pump. Medela offers a line of pumps and products as well.

The Medela Freestyle Breast Pump
This pump is unique because it is handsfree! Just hook up and pump away! This feature is so nice, personally because pumping can get boring. When you can fold laundry, watch TV, play on your phone, or even the computer, it can be much more relaxing, and therefore you may produce more milk as well.

Personal Double Breast Pump
The Medela Advanced Personal Double pump provides the 2-Phase Expression technology. This technology lets mom relax while the pump switches from the letdown phase to expression. It offers too a small button that mom can press if letdown happens faster than the pump thinks it will.

Swing and Manual Breast Pumps
Other pumps that Medela sell are the single electric or the Swing pump and the regular manual pump.
